Volunteer Opportunities

Our chapter in need of volunteers to assist with various chapter functions. Please see below for a brief description of each committee and a summary of duties. Please send the area(s) in which you have interest in volunteering to info@nabametrodc.org.

Student Services Committee
Responsible for ensuring Student Chapter affiliations are in compliance with National Office guidelines; and appropriate activities have been identified and approved by professional Chapter Student Services Director.

Financial Literacy Committee
Responsible with providing free financial literacy programs to area students and the community through two financial literacy programs and an one week summer residency program for high school students. The Committee is looking for members to help accomplish our community relations initiatives such as VITA, Financial Literacy Workshops, Operation Hope and other community volunteer efforts.

Membership Committee
Committee is responsible for recruiting new members, maintaining membership records and reporting membership levels. Committee will communicate with all new members and ensure appropriate welcoming packets are sent on a regular basis.

Professional Development Committee
Develop programs, development sessions and seminars on relevant topics such as career development, leadership, and technical skill building or industry trends for members of NABA.

Corporate Relations Committee
Develop active corporate prospects and set out and execute strategies for solicitation of these prospects. This committee will also be expected to be self-motivated in initiating contacts with potential sponsors for annual events. Work in conjunction with the Fundraising Committee in creating and implementing strategies for cultivation, solicitation and closure, and set and achieve annual Fundraising and activity goals.

Chapter Communications Committee
Committee is responsible for notifying the media about NABA events and communicating information to community. Committee is also responsible for planning and creating all promotional and marketing activities of chapter, managing website data and keeping it up to date. Serves as the liaison between the chapter and the general public.

Scholarship Committee
Scholarship committee is responsible for soliciting and selecting NABA scholarship recipients. Committee is also responsible for planning and organizing annual banquet to present awards to recipients and members. Banquet includes: lunch, speaker, program and awards.

Community Relations Committee
Responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing social functions (mixers, holiday parties, etc.) designed to foster networking (sharing ideas and opportunities) among members for NABA. Develop partnerships with other minority organizations such as National Black MBA’s, etc. Responsible for planning, and coordinating NABA activities (i.e. annual golf outing, trips, etc) to raise funds for scholarships. Some responsibilities include: securing site/course, planning program, soliciting sponsors and golfers, prizes and volunteers. Also, this committee is responsible for developing programs that will benefit the DC, Maryland and Virginia areas.

Website Committee
A sub-committee of the Chapter Communications Committee, this committee is responsible for maintaining the Chapter’s website. Some HTML coding knowledge is required.
